The History of Solnovo
THE BEGINNING
Solnovo, Inc. was born from the blending of two formerly successful Information Technology consulting firms in Southern California. SAS Network Solutions, Inc. was founded in May of 2001 by Scott A. Smith, having recently left as a Systems Engineer with Cisco System, Inc. With strong relationships with Cisco and key Cisco customers, SAS quickly established a valued relationship with Cisco as an engineering focused “boutique style” value added reseller and systems integrator. SAS very quickly became one of the few Unified Communications Specialized partners in the Southern California region. The IT Group was founded in January of 1989 by Kevin B. England and was well known as an Industry-leading provider of IP communications, computer networking solutions, advanced server technologies, infrastructure design, implementation, consulting, management, and IT outsourcing support to small, medium, & enterprise businesses and public sector organizations across the State of California.

For nearly six years, SAS Network Solutions served as the premier provider of advanced technology consulting services, unified communications engineering and implementation services, and as a leading information technology consulting firm for a wide array of institutions and private and public sector organizations.
With focus on engineering services, process management and consulting services SAS allowed clients to effectively transform the way they interact with other businesses, customers, and partners. Through innovative engineering solutions, exemplary customer service and detail-driven process management, SAS relieved clients of burdensome and costly technology solutions for their information technology and operations needs. The IT Group was founded on the model of principles of offering technology innovation to a vast client base, and executing an array of integrated technology solutions in an ever-evolving market. The business strategy was highly-creative and strongly-defined in process, to dynamically meet clients’ needs. The IT Group quickly grew to a highly educated and technical staff of over 45 engineers, managers, sales, and administrative employees. The IT Group’s key to organizational growth involved positioning as a key consulting partner with strategic relationships with some of the leading manufactures and service providers in the world such as Gateway, Dell, & Cisco, providing a service arm that extended those brand names to customers. Additionally, for many years the IT Group focused on maximizing emerging technology such as VoIP (Voice over IP) and High Capacity Storage.
The IT Group developed quickly into Gateway Computers premier partner in North America, deploying over a $100 million dollars in software and hardware for business within the State of California. As a strategic Gateway Partner, the IT Group conceptualized Gateway’s national Network Solutions Provider (NSP) program, consulted with Gateway’s executive team to provide industry insight, then devised a highly duplicatable process for providing networking services to businesses and organization on a national level.
The IT Group cultivated an organizational culture founded on superiority in customer relationship management, product design, project management, and detailed specific techniques for the sales and engineering team to employ to keep The IT Group on the forefront of the customer’s mind, far beyond the completion of any specific engagement. This philosophy has proven critical to maintaining key relationships since our inception.

In November of 2007, SAS and the IT Group stepped aside and Solnovo opened its doors. Just as Solnovo was born of two highly successful information technology consulting firms; the name represents the melding of two key concepts that formulate the core of Solnovo - Innovative (novo) Solutions (sol) for our customers.
